C. Transverse TEM section of dauer pharynx terminal bulb. White box outlines the region enlarged in E. (Image source: N2 daf-4(m63) dauer [D. Riddle] 227.)
B&C. Arrows indicate nuclei of dorsal g1 and g2 cells.
The extent of the dorsal g1 gland cytoplasm is easily seen by the swollen lamellae inside, while the g2 gland cytoplasm lacks such swollen lamellae. The extent of g1 lamellar swelling is much reduced in the dauer.
