PHC is a set of two neurons with cell bodies situated in the lumbar ganglia. Posteriorly directed processes run from the cell bodies into the tails pike (e) running alongside the processes of PLM and PLN. The disposition of these processes suggests that they may be sensory dendrites. Anteriorly directed processes leave the cell body and enter the pre-anal ganglion via the lumbar commissures and run for a short distance near the middle of the neuropile before ending. The main synaptic output is to DVA (c), PVC (a) and DA9 (a). There are gap junctions to itself (d), VA12 and DA9. Magnifications: (a-d) x 25500.
