Anterior and Posterior Deirid Sensilla Image Gallery

Anterior deirid sensilla are located bilaterally in the alae. ADE neuron and one sheath and one socket cell make up each sensillum on each side.

Unlike anterior deirid sensilla, posterior deirid sensilla are dorsal to alae and are located next to dorsal body wall muscle quadrants on both sides. Each posterior deirid sensillum consists of one PDE neuron, one sheath cell and one socket cell. GliaFIG44 is adapted from Hall and Hedgecock, 1991; note that this figure is from an animal with unc-104 (rh43) clr-1 background.
